Pearl Jam Cancels More European Tour Dates Due to Ongoing Illness

Pearl Jam has announced additional European tour date cancellations as band members continue to recover from an illness.

Pearl Jam, the iconic rock band, has been forced to cancel more dates on their European tour due to a persistent illness affecting members of the band. This follows the earlier cancellation of their show at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium over the weekend.

The band has now also cancelled their scheduled performances at Waldbühne in Berlin on July 2 and 3.

“Despite everyone’s best efforts, the band has yet to make a full recovery,” Pearl Jam shared in a statement on their social media channels.

Their next scheduled live performance is set for July 6 in Barcelona, Spain.

In the heartfelt statement, the band expressed their deep disappointment and highlighted the difficulty of making the decision to cancel these shows. They acknowledged the significant impact this has on their fans and the crew who work tirelessly to make their concerts possible.

“The impacts of this decision are not lost on us,” the statement read. “We feel deeply that so many people spend their time, money, and emotional energy to get tickets and then to come see the band, and it is heart-wrenching to have to disappoint you.”

Pearl Jam also extended their gratitude to the fans for their continued understanding and support, emphasizing that such decisions are never made lightly.

“We also appreciate the many people whose hard work goes into making these shows happen. Please trust we never take these decisions lightly and try to do everything possible to show up for you all.”

They expressed regret over the inability to reschedule the cancelled dates for this tour leg, but remain hopeful for a return in the future. Fans who purchased tickets for the cancelled shows will receive refunds at the point of purchase.

While the specific nature of the illness and the affected band members have not been disclosed, frontman Eddie Vedder hinted at contracting an illness after high-fiving fans during their Dublin show earlier in the tour.

Pearl Jam is currently touring in support of their latest album, Dark Matter. After the remaining dates in Germany and Spain, the band plans to take a brief hiatus before kicking off the U.S. leg of their tour on August 26.

Stay tuned for updates on Pearl Jam’s tour schedule and recovery.
