A Legal Battle Over Nirvana’s Iconic Smiley Face Logo Ends in Settlement

The long-standing legal dispute over Nirvana’s iconic smiley face logo has concluded in a settlement. This resolution ends years of extensive litigation between the legendary band, fashion designer Marc Jacobs, and a former Geffen Records art designer who claimed he created the logo.

Settlement Reached After Lengthy Legal Battle

On Tuesday, attorneys for all three parties filed a notice in the Los Angeles federal court announcing their acceptance of a mediator’s proposal to resolve the case. This decision brings closure to the protracted battle over the logo, which has been a staple on countless t-shirts and merchandise since Kurt Cobain’s death. Judge John A. Kronstadt was informed that the settlement would be formalized within 21 days, leading to the removal of all upcoming hearings and deadlines. The terms of the deal remain undisclosed, and no party has commented on the settlement.
