Dave Grohl Channels Ozzy Osbourne as Foo Fighters Join Forces with Black Sabbath’s Geezer Butler for an Epic Performance

Geezer Butler, known for his nearly 60-year-long career in music with bands like Heaven & Hell, GZR, Deadland Ritual, and the iconic Ozzy Osbourne, retired in 2023. However, for many heavy metal fans, Butler remains synonymous with his role as the bassist for the legendary band Black Sabbath. In a spectacular turn of events, Foo Fighters’ frontman Dave Grohl brought Butler out of retirement for a special performance.

On Thursday, the Foo Fighters electrified the audience at Villa Park stadium in Birmingham, United Kingdom, with a concert that had a special surprise. Geezer Butler, a local legend and former Black Sabbath bassist, joined the stage for a one-of-a-kind performance. Despite Butler’s long history in music, he had never performed or even attended a concert at this venue. Dave Grohl, recognizing the significance of the location, invited Butler to make his debut at Villa Park.

As the crowd erupted in applause, Grohl announced, “He’s never seen a concert here. He’s never played a concert here. So we thought, something special for us and hopefully it’s special for him too, we’d invite him out to come play a song with us. Ladies and gentleman, Geezer Butler from Black Sabbath.”

The highlight of the evening was Butler’s surprise performance of the classic Black Sabbath hit “Paranoid.” Fans were ecstatic, witnessing a legendary moment in heavy metal history. Social media buzzed with excitement, as fans praised the collaboration. One enthusiastic comment read, “One of the greatest metal bass players that ever lived.” Another fan noted, “Dave channeling Ozzy in this performance is EVERYTHING.” A particularly nostalgic comment added, “Ironically, this could probably be heard from Ozzy’s childhood home.”

This extraordinary collaboration between Dave Grohl and Geezer Butler not only delighted fans but also underscored the enduring legacy of Black Sabbath and its influence on the heavy metal genre. The performance at Villa Park will be remembered as a historic moment, celebrating the roots and evolution of metal music.
