Johnathan Morin Tap Jazz Trio
Really awesome band full of great looking guys playing good swinging music.
Johnathan Morin is an indigenous artist of cree descent and a leading force in Canadian Tap dance today. Hailing from Treaty 6 Edmonton Alberta, he became a professional tap dancer and is making a name for himself across the country and around the world.
He co-produces and co-directs Rhythm and Sound Dance Company alongside Cori Giannotta, and teaches tap dance in the city.
He was nominated for a Dora Award for his performance in the Legacy Tap Dance Concert, presented by dance Immersion in association with Canadian Stage and choreographed by Travis Knights, Lisa La Touch and guests in 2022.
He is also part of, Restorative Culture: Johnathan Morin, a documentary film directed by Travis Knights, will be available to view online from September 28 to October 14, 2024 in honour of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
The documentary explores the issues of identity and belonging through Morin’s story. Some of the original music in the documentary soundtrack was composed by Johnathan Morin and his collaborators Sophia Perlman and others.
