Will Ramos Surprises Fans by Singing in Employed To Serve’s Electrifying New Track “Atonement”

UK metalcore heavyweights Employed To Serve have unleashed their latest single, Atonement, marking the first glimpse of their highly anticipated fifth studio album, Fallen Star. Known for their razor-sharp riffs and unrelenting intensity, the Woking-based band continues to evolve their sound with this dynamic release. Combining thunderous metal grooves, blistering hardcore elements, and a soaring, old-school heavy metal guitar solo, Atonement encapsulates everything fans have come to love about the band—while also delivering some unexpected surprises.
One of the most exciting elements of the track is the guest appearance of Lorna Shore’s Will Ramos, a vocalist celebrated as one of modern metal’s most savage screamers. Ramos, known for his jaw-dropping growls and screams, makes a surprising departure from his usual style in Atonement. While the track begins with his signature guttural growls, Ramos shocks fans by lending his melodic singing voice to the anthemic chorus—a rare treat from the frontman, who has primarily kept his clean vocals out of his main projects.
Fans may recall that Ramos first showcased his melodic abilities with a stunning cover of Sleep Token’s Chokehold on YouTube in 2023. However, his performance in Atonement marks the first time he has integrated his clean singing into an official release.
Discussing the inspiration behind Atonement, guitarist Sammy Urwin shares, “The song takes aim at those who try to impose their power over others. The only way to overcome such people is to rise above their behavior and forge your own path. We wanted to lead with this single because it represents the ethos of Employed To Serve as a band—we believe in hard work and staying true to your goals, regardless of the negativity around you.”
The track’s accompanying music video is a playful nod to the US version of The Office, filmed in Scranton, Pennsylvania—the sitcom’s fictional setting. Vocalist Justine Jones sheds light on the filming experience, stating, “The studio was like a shrine to the show, with so many references to Dwight. It was fun to explore in between takes. The video portrays a person in authority trying to break down their captive through aggression. I’ll admit it was hard to keep a straight face while choking out Sammy—by the fifteenth take, though, the jetlag and heat had me fully committed to the unhinged vibe.”
With Fallen Star set for release on April 25 via Spinefarm Records, Employed To Serve will also embark on a headline UK tour this April, supported by Celestial Sanctuary and Burner. Fans can expect to hear Atonement live, alongside other new material, at the following dates:
