The Reunited Alice Cooper Band Unleashes “Black Mamba” Ahead of New Album

Just days after the surviving original members of the Alice Cooper band announced a highly anticipated reunion album and tour, the first single from their forthcoming record has officially been released.
Opening with a haunting spoken-word introduction that reaffirms Alice Cooper’s status as the Vincent Price of rock, “Black Mamba” sees the 77-year-old icon effortlessly slipping back into his sinister persona. He snarls lines like, “I’m so beautiful to look at, baby / But so dangerous to touch,” delivering them with his trademark theatrical menace.
Supporting Cooper are guitarist Mike Bruce, drummer Neal Smith, and bassist Dennis Dunaway — all founding members of the legendary Seventies lineup. Together, they resurrect the gritty, sleazy rock sound that made them famous, offering fans a potent dose of nostalgia. The track also features a fiery, unhinged guitar solo from Robby Krieger, the legendary guitarist of The Doors, adding even more vintage rock firepower to the mix.
“Black Mamba” is the first preview of The Revenge of Alice Cooper, scheduled for release on July 25. This marks the first new album from the band’s core members since 1973’s Muscle of Love. (Fun fact for devoted fans: that album notably included a guest appearance by Liza Minnelli.)
Though original guitarist Glen Buxton sadly passed away from pneumonia in 1997, he will still make a posthumous appearance on The Revenge of Alice Cooper. Buxton’s previously unreleased guitar parts have been incorporated into the new song “What Happened to You.” Additionally, a bonus track for the deluxe editions of the album will feature an alternate version of the 1970 classic “Return of the Spiders,” with Buxton’s unreleased contributions.
Described in an official statement as a “high-voltage journey into vintage horror and classic ’70s shock rock,” The Revenge of Alice Cooper features artwork designed to evoke the aesthetic of retro horror films. To promote the album, Alice Cooper and his reunited bandmates will embark on a major co-headlining tour with Judas Priest this fall, promising a thrilling celebration of classic heavy rock for longtime fans and newcomers alike.
