SweetBeast Unveils Sludgy Psychedelic Stoner Video for “Illusion” Featuring Space Queen

Kelowna-based stoner rock band SweetBeast is making waves with their upcoming debut album, Illusions, set to release on February 21, 2025, via Humalien Records. Following their November release of the first single, “Dream Eater,” the band has dropped a captivating music video for their latest single, “Illusion.” The track features vocal harmonies from the talented Vancouver trio, Space Queen, adding an ethereal layer to the sludgy, riff-heavy soundscape.

The album’s closing track, “Illusion,” is a masterclass in blending raw energy with introspective themes. Its fuzz-laden guitars, haunting solos, and poignant lyrics invite listeners on a journey of awakening and self-discovery. Space Queen’s harmonies elevate the track, weaving a lush auditory tapestry that amplifies its emotional depth.

A Weekend of Creation

SweetBeast shared insights into the production of Illusions, revealing that the album was recorded live off the floor in just two days. While minor overdubs and post-production enhancements, including Space Queen’s harmonies and studio effects, were added later, the band embraced a raw, organic approach.

“When we told the studio what we had planned to accomplish that weekend, they thought we were crazy,” the band said. “It’s usually at least a week of studio time to get all those songs laid out. But we got it done and couldn’t be happier with the results.”

A Sonic Exploration

The Illusions album is a bold exploration of shifting realities, blending heavy, distorted riffs with introspective and often haunting lyrics. SweetBeast creates a dense, atmospheric sound, characterized by low-tuned guitars, hypnotic grooves, and psychedelic progressions. The songs alternate between heavy, sludgy riffs and lighter, more melodic passages, pushing the boundaries of traditional stoner rock.

SweetBeast’s dynamic sound and energetic performances have earned them early praise. Kelowna Now described their music as, “tunes akin to an acid trip in the 70s — ideal for headbanging and perfect for getting lost in.”

In a recent live review, Elder God Productions praised the band’s Vancouver debut:
“SweetBeast delivered a killer set of fuzz-heavy guitars, psychedelic vibes, and commanding drum work. With their groovy rhythms and confident stage presence, they left the audience thoroughly impressed.”

For fans of Queens Of The Stone Age, All Them Witches, Kyuss, and Alice In Chains, SweetBeast’s Illusions promises to be a must-hear release in 2025.
