SDE 2025 Record Store Day Highlights

Record Store Day (RSD) 2025 is fast approaching, and with it comes an array of exclusive releases sure to excite vinyl collectors and music enthusiasts alike. This year’s lineup boasts an impressive selection of rare demos, alternative mixes, and long-awaited reissues from some of the most influential artists in music history. Here’s a closer look at a few standout releases:

A-ha / Hunting High & Low – The 1984 Demos [Clear Vinyl]

A-ha fans will be thrilled with this unique companion piece to 2019’s Hunting High And Low (The Early Alternate Mixes). This special release compiles early demos from the 2019 Hunting High And Low deluxe edition, arranged in album order to create an alternative version of the band’s classic debut. Pressed on clear vinyl, this is a must-have for collectors and dedicated followers of the Norwegian pop legends.

Air / Moon Safari – Live & Demos [White Vinyl]

The French electronic duo Air present an intriguing collection of live recordings and rare demo tracks. This release promises “10 unique rarities, demo versions, and BBC live sessions,” likely sourced from last year’s Moon Safari 25th-anniversary box set. Many of these tracks are making their vinyl debut, making this white vinyl pressing an essential addition to any Air fan’s collection.

Alan Parsons Project / I Robot (Work In Progress) [Blue Vinyl]

The themes of the Alan Parsons Project’s 1977 classic I Robot have never felt more relevant. This ‘Work In Progress’ edition offers fans an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the album’s creation, featuring unreleased early rough takes and alternative mixes of all ten tracks. The release also includes sleevenotes by Alan Parsons himself. Pressed on 180g blue vinyl, this limited edition of 4,100 copies is expected to be in high demand.

Alison Moyet / Hometime [Vinyl LP]

Alison Moyet’s critically acclaimed Hometime (2002) makes a much-anticipated return to vinyl. This record marked a stylistic shift for Moyet, blending jazz-infused electronic balladry with Portishead-esque production. Previously reissued in 2015 by Cooking Vinyl in an edition that now fetches high prices on the secondary market, this new pressing is limited to 3,000 individually numbered copies—offering fans a fresh opportunity to own this overlooked gem on vinyl.

Art Of Noise / Impressions Of For+ever and The Making Of Moments In Love [Red Vinyl]

Celebrating 40 years since their groundbreaking debut, Art Of Noise delivers a fascinating retrospective on their iconic track Moments In Love. The A-side chronicles the evolution of the single, while the B-side gathers some of the best remixes, including the elusive near-20-minute suite The Tortoise And The Hare. Originally available only on the Moments In Love cassette single and the 2006 And What Have You Done With My Body, God? box set, this deep dive into one of the band’s most hypnotic compositions is an essential listen for fans of experimental electronic music.

With an array of captivating releases, Record Store Day 2025 is set to be another spectacular event for vinyl enthusiasts. Whether you’re rediscovering a classic album through early demos or completing your collection with an exclusive pressing, these limited editions are sure to be treasured finds.
