Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Announces 2025 Nominees

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has officially announced the nominees for its Class of 2025. This prestigious honor recognizes artists and bands that have significantly influenced the music industry and culture. To be eligible for nomination, an artist or group must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years before the nomination year.

The selection process evaluates artists based on their impact on music history, influence on other musicians, and the breadth and longevity of their careers. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame aims to celebrate those who have contributed to the evolution and expansion of the genre.

This year’s nominee list includes 14 artists and bands, with eight appearing on the ballot for the first time. The new nominees are Bad Company, The Black Crowes, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Billy Idol, Maná, Outkast, and Phish.

“These remarkable nominees have each created their own musical style and attitude, impacting generations of music lovers and contributing to the ever-evolving sounds and continued growth of rock & roll,” said John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, in an official statement.

Nominee ballots will be distributed to an international voting body composed of more than 1,200 artists, historians, and music industry professionals. Voters will assess the candidates based on their artistic achievements and contributions to music.

The official list of 2025 nominees includes:

  • Bad Company
  • The Black Crowes
  • Mariah Carey
  • Chubby Checker
  • Joe Cocker
  • Billy Idol
  • Joy Division/New Order
  • Cyndi Lauper

The final inductees will be revealed in late April, including honorees recognized under three special committee categories: Musical Influence, Musical Excellence, and the Ahmet Ertegun Non-Performer Award.

The 2025 Induction Ceremony is set to take place in Los Angeles in the fall. Additional details, including the exact date and ticket sales, will be announced at a later time.

Stay tuned for updates on this year’s inductees and the celebration of these influential artists who have left a lasting mark on the world of rock and roll.
