Heart Cancels 2024 Tour After Ann Wilson’s Cancer Diagnosis: Calgary Show Among Cancellations

Heart, the iconic rock band led by sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson, has announced the cancellation of their highly anticipated 2024 tour, including a scheduled performance on November 30th at the Saddledome in Calgary. This decision comes following a recent cancer diagnosis for lead singer Ann Wilson.

Ann Wilson, the 74-year-old powerhouse behind many of Heart’s greatest hits, shared the news on social media on Tuesday. “The operation was successful and I’m feeling great, but my doctors are now advising me to undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I’ve decided to do it,” Wilson posted. “And so my doctors are instructing me to take the rest of the year away from the stage in order to fully recover.”

Despite this setback, Wilson remains optimistic about the future. She expressed her gratitude for the support of her fans and assured them of her return to the stage in 2025.

Heart, which formed in 1973 in Seattle, has become a staple of classic rock radio, with timeless hits like “These Dreams,” “Barracuda,” “Crazy on You,” and “Magic Man.” Over their five-decade career, the band has sold an impressive 35 million records worldwide.

The band’s history has deep ties to Canada. In their early years, they signed with Vancouver-based Mushroom Records and recorded their classic album Dreamboat Annie. Heart’s influence and presence in Canada have been significant, making the cancellation of the Calgary show particularly poignant for fans.

The November 30th show in Calgary was also set to feature BTO (Bachman-Turner Overdrive), with Randy Bachman, adding to the disappointment of many classic rock enthusiasts looking forward to the event.

Fans are encouraged to stay tuned to Heart’s official channels for updates and future tour announcements as Ann Wilson focuses on her health and recovery.
