Fit for an Autopsy Guitarist Launches Eyewear Program to Support Touring Musicians and Crew

Pat Sheridan, guitarist for the deathcore band Fit for an Autopsy and Director of Partnerships at NEVEN Eyewear, has teamed up with NEVEN co-founder Jonathan Strauss to launch Sight for Sound, an innovative initiative that offers free prescription and non-prescription eyewear to touring musicians and crew members across the United States.
This program aims to fill a significant gap in healthcare support for professionals in the live music scene, particularly those who are constantly on the road and often without access to vision benefits or insurance coverage.
To qualify for the program, applicants must be U.S.-based and work a minimum of 75 shows per year. Eligible individuals can apply directly through the Sight for Sound webpage to receive their free eyewear.
Jonathan Strauss, who launched NEVEN Eyewear alongside his wife in a small home operation, emphasized the importance of this initiative. “Many people assume that musicians and crew are living glamorous lives, but the reality is often quite different,” Strauss explains. “There’s rarely any healthcare or financial safety net. Once a tour wraps, real-life challenges hit hard.”
He continued, “We started Sight for Sound to give back to a community that too often gets overlooked once the stage lights go out. This may be a small step, but it’s a meaningful one.”
Pat Sheridan, with decades of experience in the heavy music scene, echoed this sentiment. “I’ve been part of this world since the ’90s, and I’ve never seen anyone address vision health for touring artists and crew,” he said. “Musicians don’t get retirement plans, health insurance, or vision coverage. This program has the potential to save them thousands of dollars annually. It’s truly life-changing.”
NEVEN Eyewear stands apart from traditional brands through its authenticity and grassroots origins. “Metal fans can sense inauthenticity a mile away,” Strauss said. “NEVEN isn’t a polished, corporate brand trying to be edgy. We’re real people with a DIY spirit that reflects the energy of the music scene.”
Already, the Sight for Sound initiative has drawn support from well-known figures in the heavy music community, including Gary Holt (Exodus), Tony Foresta (Municipal Waste), Tanner Wayne (In Flames), Zach Johnson (The Ghost Inside), and Phil Sgrosso (Saosin).
While the Sight for Sound program doesn’t solve all of the systemic issues facing artists in the touring world, it marks a significant and practical step toward supporting their health and well-being—one pair of glasses at a time.
