Exclusive Collaboration: Paramore and David Byrne Unveil Limited Edition Record Store Day Release
Exciting news for music enthusiasts as Paramore and David Byrne announce a special collaborative release exclusively available on Record Store Day 2024. Set to hit participating record stores on April 20th, this 12-inch pressing is a must-have for fans of both iconic artists.
On the A-side, listeners can enjoy Byrne’s fresh take on Paramore’s hit “Hard Times,” infused with his unique style and featuring a horn section. Meanwhile, the B-side showcases Paramore’s rendition of Talking Heads’ classic “Burning Down the House,” adding a new dimension to the beloved track.
In a tweet unveiling the collaboration, Byrne shared, “[Paramore] told me that their song ‘Hard Times’ was inspired by Talking Heads, so I learned it and recorded my version of their great song with a horn section. This was fun!” Paramore’s lead singer, Hayley Williams, previously teased Byrne’s cover, describing it as “fucking insane” and “unreal.”
As the designated Ambassadors for Record Store Day 2024, Paramore is not only contributing to this exclusive release but is also treating fans to a Record Store Day-exclusive vinyl pressing of their recent remix album, Re: This is Why. Additionally, Talking Heads enthusiasts can look forward to the release of the band’s complete 1977 radio performance for WCOZ, available for the first time.
Paramore’s rendition of “Burning Down the House” is not only part of the collaboration with David Byrne but is also featured on A24’s upcoming tribute album to Talking Heads, titled “Everyone’s Getting Involved: A Tribute to Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense.”
