// THE TESIPHONIA DUO
The Tesiphonia Duo are pianist Mehdi Karbasi and multi-instrumentalist James Duff (playing viola da gamba, dilruba, mandolin, and guitar) who first met attending music school at Dalhousie University. The two realized that they shared a strong appreciation for Eastern music traditions and wanted to experiment with creating fusions with their respective Western classical training.

Named after the ancient Persian capital of Tesiphon, they will be playing a diverse program including several arrangements of beautiful folk melodies from Iran, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Arabia alongside works by modern classical composers. They will also be featuring some of their own compositions, a piece by Toronto composer Maziar Heidari, and works by late Iranian composer, santur virtuoso, Parvez Meshkatian.

The duo will be joined by talented guest percussionist, Adam Campbell (Torq Percussion Quartet, Ladom Ensemble) to make for an exciting and diverse program.
