Moneka Arabic Jazz

January 19 /10:30 pm January 20 /1:30 am

Happy New Year Toronto’s family and friends we are back to Drom with Moneka Arabic Jazz.

is a project reflecting my journey and culture to the Toronto music scene. It is introducing Maqam, Arabic music skills that I learned in Baghdad, Iraq where I grew up. Also mixed with African grove and rhythm that I inherited from my African descendants, the Moneka Family. Because my journey brought me now to Toronto Canada, I am honoured to collaborate with fascinating local musicians and share this heritage and traditions with everyone.

Jazz and blues is the best genre to bridge my Afro-Arabic background to the diversity of Toronto performers.

This night the team is:
Max Senitt on Drum kit
Fethi Nadjem on Violin and Kora
Waleed Abdulhamid on Bass
Demetrios Petsalakis on Oud and Guitar
Ernie Tollar on Saxophone and Nay
Ahmed Moneka Voice

It’s a pay what you can event, so don’t worry if you like the music, there will be a red hat passing around! Catch it!

Drom always have yummy food and drinks waiting for you…

Come join us, there’ll be a lot of joy and love!
