Loom is Brooke Manning, a Toronto artist who has been writing, collaborating, and performing under the moniker since 2009. Her physical releases are rare and limited (there are 3, currently sold out). She writes during waves of welcomed reclusiveness and releases when propelled, producing minimal, purposely circuitous soundscapes exploring fear, love, and death. Currently Loom is a graced by the three part live vocal harmonies of Carmen Elle (also on guitar), Kyla Charter, and Leah Fay.
Queen of Swords is a Toronto-based musical project from Aerin Fogel. The debut self-titled album was recorded and produced by Bobb Bruno (Best Coast) and released in 2017. A complex mixture of dark undertones and sweeping melodies weave through each song, and live shows are joined by Kritty Uranowski (Lavender Bruisers, No Mean City Collective, Girls Rock Camp). Fogel also works as a professional astrologer and runs local feminist music festival Venus Fest
// Catholic Wilt
Catholic Wilt is the solo vehicle for Jesse James Laderoute, currently of blonde elvis and formerly of young mother. Intended as an excuse to genuinely indulge in regret and sadness, these are not songs discarded for lack of quality, but because they’re unsuitable for the practiced satire of Blonde Elvis. In his spare time Jesse enjoys cooking for his friends and drinking fine spirits in total darkness.
