Ivan Rosenberg & Adam Shier

One of the world’s Top 20 Dobro players, according to The Guitar Journal, Ivan Rosenberg has earned international acclaim for his melodic, expressive acoustic music on Dobro and clawhammer banjo. With six solo albums to his credit, Ivan’s original songs have appeared in the background of over 400 television episodes and films including The Daily Show, Oprah, Call of the Wildman, History Detectives, the Special Edition DVD of Serenity, and the Hollywood blockbuster Kangaroo Jack.
He recently received an Ontario Arts Council Grant to record a follow-up to his 2016 album The Littlest Dobro.
Ivan earned an International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Award for co-writing the 2009 Song of the Year “Don’t Throw Mama’s Flowers Away”; played on the CD Southern Filibuster: A Tribute to Tut Taylor (produced by multiple Grammy winner Jerry Douglas); and performed with Chris Coole, The Foggy Hogtown Boys, Chris Jones & The Night Drivers, the April Verch Bigger Band, Lizzy Hoyt, Chris Stuart & Backcountry, Steve Dawson & Doug Cox (on the “New Voices in Slide Guitar” tour), and many more. In the studio, Ivan has recorded, produced, and/or mixed albums for some of Canada’s finest roots, folk, and bluegrass artists including Pharis & Jason Romero, John Reischman, The Breakmen, The Slocan Ramblers, and The Barrel Boys.
Here at The Local, Ivan can be seen performing along with some of Toronto’s finest acoustic musicians including Chris Coole, Adam Shier (from the Unseen Strangers) Andrew Collins (Foggy Hogtown Boys), and Kyle Kirkpatrick (The Barrel Boys).
