Eric Andersen + Scarlet Rivera with Cheryl Prashker

April 15 /7:30 pm 10:00 pm

Eric Andersen
Eric Andersen, one of the founding fathers of the great American Folk Family, continues to evolve and reinvent himself. It’s as though he has an unquenchable thirst to create new works and adapt the works of other literary icons of the past. For me that is the mark of a true artist, constantly moving the finish line and looking for new ways to express himself and not fearful of taking the great works of others and translating them into song in his own undeniable fashion.

“Andersen is the most elegant of singers.” – Rolling Stone
“A singer and songwriter of the first rank.” – The New York Times
“Eric Andersen is a great ballad singer and writer.” – Bob Dylan

Scarlet Rivera Music
Scarlet Rivera is a talented and accomplished American violinist. She is best known for her work with Bob Dylan, in particular on his album Desire and as part of the Rolling Thunder Revue.

Bob Dylan is often credited for discovering Scarlet before the rehearsal for his 1975 Rolling Thunder Revue tour. After a session with her, Dylan invited her to play on the “Rolling Thunder Revue” tour.

Scarlet has multiple CD’s as a composer in numerous styles, instrumental, New Age, Celtic and world music. Scarlet has performed in the US, Europe and Japan with her Celtic group. She also recorded and performed with Tracy Chapman, Indigo Girls, Kori Linae Carothers, Keb Mo and others. Scarlet was a soloist with the Duke Ellington Orchestra at Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center and the Carnival of Venice, Italy. She continues to be an active recording artist, performer and composer, and we’re over the moon she’ll be joining Eric Andersen on stage at Hugh’s Room Live on Monday, April 15, 2019. Tickets are on sale right now.

Cheryl Prashker
Cheryl Prashker studied classical percussion at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, where she was born and raised. She has toured Canada, U.S. Europe and Russia with The Yiddish Theatre of Montreal. She spent many years in New York City where she honed her skills of playing anything from Rock and Roll, Klezmer, to Celtic as well as Middle Eastern music. She now uses her special style of percussion to enhance the music of such artists as Eric Andersen, Jonathan Edwards, Pat Wictor, Tracy Grammer, Full Frontal Folk and her group RUNA. Cheryl is also a songwriter and is now the new Artistic Director of The Goderich Celtic Roots Festival in Goderich, ON.
