Dave Mowat & Clayton Yates With Little Magic Sam Taylor
March 29 /10:00 pm March 30 /1:00 am
Nitty gritty blues….BB King once said that if a child is crying, then he has got the blues, it does not mean that he is sad or happy, but he is crying. Blues is about that, it is about that moment, it is something spontaneous like that little child which comes out of you every now and then. The sound is just a derivative of the feeling. The dog barking at midnight in your street, the chimes of bells in the church, the fat lady neighbor quarreling with her husband next door or the spatter of a heavy shower on your roof top, everyone and everything has got the blues….some pick up a musical instrument and play the same.
“It’s not mainstream blues, it’s old school,” says Clayton Yates, describing the band’s style of music. “Sort of Mississippi Delta blues style, it’s very different. It’s dance music, it’s low-down and it’s dirty. It’s in the style of guys like Junior Wells and Buddy Guy and Howlin’ Wolf, and we throw in a little country blues as well, like Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee.”
Join this great band for a night of stellar blues. Dave Mowat’s voice is something to behold (damn good harp player too), and he’s a charismatic and charming entertainer while Clayton Yates will rip it up on guitar, reaching out to grab your very soul at the crossroads of his fretboard. Backed by an incredibly talented band, it will surely be a night to remember!
Doors open at 9 pm. Show starts at 10 pm.
