Cornelia Luna with the Bill King Trio
March 14 /8:30 pm 11:00 pm
Not a stranger to performing on a grand stage with a full orchestra and right down to an intimate setting with a piano accompanist, Cornelia has shared the stage with some exemplary artists at venues such the Boston Opera House, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Shanghai Grand Theatre, and the London Palladium.
Described by the Toronto Music Report as “an artist of the first order,” Cornelia is thrilled to be back at the Jazz Bistro with the Bill King Trio: Bill King on the Steinway piano, Duncan Hopkins on acoustic bass, and Joe Bowden on drums.
Join us on Thursday, March 14th and share a magical evening of unforgettable songs by Kander & Ebb, Maltby & Shire, Arlen and Mercer, Alan & Marilyn Bergman, Michel Jean Legrand, Peter Matz, Stephen Sondheim, and more. See you at the Jazz Bistro.
Cornelia Luna’s new record “Starting Here, Starting Now,” celebrating the early music of Barbra Streisand has received spectacular reviews. Widely respected Jazz historian and music critic Scott Yanow describes Cornelia’s vocal instrument as “flawless . . . and blessed with a very attractive voice . . . equals her [Streisand’s] power and range.” The Toronto Music Report writes, “a profound and benchmark performance,” and from The WholeNote: “This is a triumph for both Luna and King. Her vocal instrument is sheer perfection, and King’s piano work is masterful. The versatile Luna is as skilled in rendering a ballad, as she is in presenting a thrilling, full-throttle performance.”
