Edmonton Folk Festival Unveils Iconic Collaboration: Robert Plant and Alison Krauss Set to Headline
In a monumental announcement, the Edmonton Folk Music Festival is gearing up to host a spectacular performance by none other than the legendary 75-year-old rock icon, Robert Plant, alongside the renowned country-bluegrass singer, Alison Krauss. The news was revealed in a statement from festival producer Terry Wickham on Tuesday, marking it as one of the most exciting bookings in the festival’s history.
The highly anticipated concert is scheduled to close the festival on the evening of August 11, promising attendees a brilliant and unforgettable Sunday night experience. While Krauss has graced the festival stage before in 2005 with Union Station, this marks Plant’s debut appearance at the Edmonton Folk Music Festival.
The dynamic duo previously collaborated on the critically acclaimed album “Raising Sand” in 2007, described by festival organizers as an unlikely yet mesmerizing pairing of one of rock’s greatest frontmen with one of country music’s finest and most honored artists. Produced by the legendary T Bone Burnett, the record received widespread acclaim.
Building on their success, Plant and Krauss released “Raise the Roof” in 2021, earning them multiple Grammy nominations. The upcoming 2024 edition of the Edmonton Folk Music Festival, scheduled from August 8 to August 11, promises to be a highlight for music enthusiasts.
The festival’s complete lineup is eagerly awaited and is set to be unveiled on May 28, with tickets going on sale starting June 1. Music lovers and festival-goers alike can anticipate an extraordinary celebration of musical talent and collaboration this summer in Gallagher Park.
