The synopsis states: “Deryck takes you backstage, into the recording booth, and through the highest highs and lowest lows of the band whose story is inextricably woven with his own.”

Sum 41’s Final Album and Tour

In addition to the memoir, Sum 41 is preparing for the release of their final studio album, Heaven :x: Hell, which is set to drop on March 29 through Rise Records. The album will serve as the band’s farewell, capping off a decades-long career that saw them become one of the most influential punk rock acts of their time.

Following the album’s release, Sum 41 will embark on their final world tour, spanning North America and Europe. The farewell tour will conclude with an emotional final performance in Toronto, Ontario, on January 30, 2025—marking the end of an era for the Canadian punk legends.

Health Struggles and Resilience

In September 2023, Whibley faced a significant health scare when he was hospitalized due to a severe pneumonia infection. His wife shared on social media that his hospitalization coincided with their eighth wedding anniversary, a day they had originally planned to celebrate in Chicago. Despite this setback, Whibley has continued pushing forward, demonstrating the resilience that has defined both his career and personal life.

With Walking Disaster: My Life Through Heaven And Hell, Whibley is set to provide fans with a deeply personal narrative of his life’s triumphs and struggles. As Sum 41 prepares for their final chapter, this memoir offers an opportunity to reflect on the band’s legacy and the man behind its enduring success.
