Bob Moog Foundation Launches Raffle for Limited-Edition Geddy Lee Minimoog Model D

The Bob Moog Foundation has announced a new fundraising initiative centered around a rare and meticulously crafted instrument: the Geddy Lee Minimoog Model D synthesizer. This exclusive synthesizer is part of a limited run of 500 units, each hand-assembled by Moog Music in Asheville, North Carolina. The unit featured in the raffle, bearing serial number GLMD-0233, is accompanied by several distinctive collector’s items.
This special edition of the Minimoog Model D honors Geddy Lee, legendary bassist and synthesist of the Canadian rock band Rush. It features a striking satin red finish, inspired by the iconic synth tones and visual themes from the band’s Grace Under Pressure era. The design includes a custom Voltage-Controlled Amplifier (VCA) that delivers enhanced sonic impact while preserving the warm, classic Minimoog character.
“It’s a thrill to see the Minimoog Model D in that stunning red, so representative of one of the most fertile periods in Rush’s creative history,” said Geddy Lee. “I’ve always been mad for custom color instruments, and I’m thrilled with how it turned out. It’s just so beautiful.”

Supporting Education and Innovation
All funds raised will directly benefit the Bob Moog Foundation’s educational outreach, specifically Dr. Bob’s SoundSchool, a program that introduces young students to the science of sound. Since its inception, the program has reached over 35,000 elementary students, igniting curiosity through interactive lessons grounded in Moog’s legacy.
Proceeds will also contribute to the ongoing operation of the Moogseum, a hands-on museum located in Asheville. Since opening in 2019, the Moogseum has welcomed over 45,000 visitors from around the globe. The institution continues to recover financially following the impact of Hurricane Helene, and this raffle is part of its efforts to ensure long-term sustainability.
The raffle is open internationally and will conclude at 11:59 p.m. (EST) on May 19, 2025.
